The heart of the McConnell Center is the McConnell Scholars Program, a society of 40 University of Louisville undergraduate students who represent a variety of academic disciplines but share one thing in common —the ability to lead.

Bluegrass Orthopedics 

Bluegrass Orthopedics is seeking nominations for the 4th Annual BGO Night of Champions – Achievement Award.

This award is unique as it honors student‐athletes at the high school level from the central Kentucky area who have distinguished themselves in the classroom, in their community, on the playing field/court, and have been high achievers in every aspect of their life.

Recipients receive an individual award, gift, and scholarship to the amount of $500.00.

Our Board of Directors is asking guidance counselors, athletic directors, coaches, athletic trainers, and other school administration to nominate student‐athlete(s) who satisfy the criteria set forth in this form. 

Multiple nominees from each school are appreciated.  The board will select 15 winners from high schools in central Kentucky area as the “BGO Achievement Award” winner. 

Nomination Criteria

1. Nominee can be a senior in high school.

2. Nominee must be in good academic standing.  Student‐athlete must be a member of the athletic team(s) during the 2019‐20 academic year.

3. Student‐athlete must consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship and ethical behavior on and off the playing field.

4. Student‐athlete must demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences.

5. Student‐athlete must demonstrate a strong commitment to and involvement in community/volunteer service.

6. Nominee must be able to attend awards presentation dinner on Thursday April 30th , 2020 at the Marriott – Griffin Gate Hotel.

Nominations Guidelines

1. Each high school may nominate 1‐5 student‐athlete(s) that satisfy the criteria.

2. You may include two letters of recommendation.

3. All nominees must satisfy the criteria.

4. The scholarship recipients will be informed by March 13th , 2020.

Selection Process

1. Nominations will be reviewed by the BGO Night of Champions Planning Committee.

2. The committee will then select 15 winners from area high school.

Each year at the Spring Conference (register here), we award scholarships to students from across the Commonwealth.  I encourage you to send this information to the students you work with.  The scholarships are a one-time award of $500.  


Please share this Kimberly D. Merritt Achieve Your Dreams Scholarship with any and all seniors. We also try to invite the recipients to the conference to be recognized by the membership.

Woodford County Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention

Woodford County Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention and we provide up to four $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors each year. The descriptions of the scholarship are attached and applications are submitted electronically this year using the corresponding links below. The award is paid directly to the student’s institution.

John Hemlepp - WYSA Scholarship John Hemlepp of Hemlepp Photography is pleased to announce that he has partnered with the Woodford Youth Soccer Association again this year to sponsor the Hemlepp Photography / WYSA Scholarship. The WYSA scholarship is a $500 non renewable scholarship. All WCHS seniors that have participated in the Woodford Youth Soccer Association recreational division are eligible to apply.

education. To be eligible, a student must:

• Be a graduating senior at Woodford County High School

• Have attended Northside Elementary for at least two years

• Demonstrate characteristics of a well-rounded person

April 1, 2020 Kentucky Federation of Republican Women

The Kentucky Federation of Republican Women grants a $1,500.00 scholarship to a college bound
high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican Party.

The qualified applicant will graduate from a Kentucky high school in 2020, is or will be a registered Republican, and plans to enroll at an accredited college or university in Kentucky.

The complete application will include the following:
> Completed application form
> A one-page typed essay about a Republican woman you admire or who has influenced your life and why
> An official copy of your high school transcript, which may be mailed separately
> Two letters of recommendation

The Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute 

KMHI Scholarship

The Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute proud to announce its KMHI Scholarship Awards. Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals (graduating seniors and older) who are currently attending or will be attending a technical center, trade school, or enrolling in an apprenticeship program, each of which should be centered around the construction industry and should not be free programs. In addition to the five trade scholarships, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2020 to graduating high school seniors, GED recipients, or students who are currently enrolled in college or tech schools that live in modular, manufactured, or mobile homes. These awards are available for university, college, technical, or vocational programs.

Ripple Effect Scholarship

Kentucky American Water's Ripple Effect Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding high school seniors* who demonstrate leadership in academics and a commitment to environmental leadership. Applicants must live in Kentucky American Water's service area (Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jessamine, Nicholas, Owen, Scott, and Woodford counties).
*Children of Kentucky American Water employees are not eligible.
Non-renewable scholarships of $500 will be awarded on a one-time basis and may be used at any university, college or trade school to pursue studies in an environmental or engineering field. Winners will be notified in mid-April 2018.

Dr. W.C. McCauley Scholarship


The late Harriet McCauley established a fund as a perpetual memorial to her father, the late W.C. McCauley, M.D.  The fund was designated to provide financial assistance to deserving young men and women from Woodford County to obtain a college and/or medical education.


To provide scholarships for graduating seniors from Woodford County High School in Versailles, KY. 


Recipients must be a high school graduate of Woodford County High School.

Recipients must intend on pursuing postsecondary education in the medical field*

Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Recipients must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Re-applicants must have a cumulative college GPA of 2.8 or higher.

(*Students interested in pursuing any type a two- of four-year degree in any medical related field, including but not limited to pre-med study, nursing, medical technology, dental hygiene, pharmacy, optometry, health sciences, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and physical therapy)

The Woodford County Woman's Club is offering a $1000.00 scholarship to one Woodford County resident (Woodford County mailing address is required to qualify) graduating from high school in 2019 to assist in furthering post-secondary education.
